I don't understand how to defeat the tall things; the tutorial said to charge and release on the beat, but when I try this in the actual game it just says "nothing there"?
The tall enemies need to be charged on for 2 or 3 beats depending on their height, but what you're describing sounds like it's maybe a bug! There are some timing issues in different environments and we didn't have a chance to iron out of all them for the jam.
Out of curiosity, what browser/OS did you run into this in? (FWIW, we had our best luck in Chrome, and issues in Safari and the HTML5 game launcher bundled with Itch.)
Sorry—I just figured out what I was doing wrong! I thought I was supposed to charge up in advance, and *release* when the marker reaches them, but it actually only works if I START charging when the marker reaches them, and release it 2 or 3 beats AFTER it's past them.
So much fun! I loved the idea of a play. The art style was so cute and I really liked that it was a rhythm game, would love to play a longer version of this game with maybe more acts and different enemies. This game has a lot of potential and I can't wait to see what you come up with! :D
I don't know if you've heard of Game Development World Championship before (gdwc2019) but it's a competition for indie game developers where they can submit their games and it's free! It's great if you want some more visibility for the game and it only takes a couple of minutes to join :)
